The Find A Tree Academy
For Former Gang Members At Homeboy Industries

The Find A Tree Academy began at Homeboy Industries' new building in downtown Los Angeles in October of 2007. Homeboy Industries, founded by Father Greg Boyle in 1988, assists at-risk and gang-involved youth to transform their lives by providing job training and placement, along with a host of additional services.

The Find A Tree Academy provides life skills and leadership training for Homeboy Industries’ clients. In the Academy, students participate in the Find A Tree program as well as take academic classes in math, English and writing. Students can also work toward their GED or take vocational classes. The academic component is taught by Ms. Elbia Carrillo and coordinated by Ryan Whetstone, both of the East Los Angeles Education and Career Center (ELACE).  Students take classes at Homeboy Industries and ELACE. Homeboy Industries is located at 130 West Bruno Street in Los Angeles.
